The magnet requires a ferrous (magnetic) surface. It works on carbon steel, cast iron, and most tool steel. It will not hold on aluminium, brass, or austenitic stainless steel (304/316). For non-magnetic surfaces, use a clamp-type stand instead.

Is this the same as the 7010SN?
The 7010S-10 is the current production model replacing the older 7010S and 7010SN. Dimensions and magnetic force are the same.
