Our AKKO Range
Genuine indexable tool holders and spare parts for external turning, boring, grooving and threading on CNC and manual lathes.

AKKO TCLN Series Tool Holder
Holds 80° diamond CNMG-style inserts for general and finishing external turning of shafts, flanges and stepped diameters on CNC and manual lathes.

AKKO TDJN Series Tool Holder
Carries 55° diamond DNMG-style inserts, giving a sharper cutting edge for external turning and copy-turning of contoured profiles.

AKKO TTJN Series Tool Holder
A versatile holder for rigid triangle TNMG-style inserts, suited to both roughing and finishing passes where working clearance is tight.

AKKO TVJN Series Tool Holder
Built for copy-turning and profiling of shoulders and tapers, carrying 35° diamond VNMG-style inserts that reach into tight contours.

AKKO TWLN Series Tool Holder
A trigon-insert holder for heavy-duty roughing, giving maximum edge strength for fast stock removal on large-diameter shafts and castings.

AKKO Neutral Holder RPMT SRDCN 2525M16
A round-insert holder for contour turning, radiusing and copy-turning where a continuously rotatable edge extends insert life.

AKKO PSDNN 2020 K12C Tool Holder
A square-insert holder for heavy roughing of external diameters and shoulders, prioritising insert strength over approach-angle flexibility.

AKKO VBMT Turning Holder SVJBR 2525M16
Pairs a 93° approach angle with a 35° diamond VBMT-style insert, suited to external turning and light profiling close to shoulders.

AKKO SCLCR Boring Bar Holder
An internal turning/boring bar for enlarging and finishing bored holes, carrying 80° diamond CCMT-style inserts on a solid steel shank for rigidity.

AKKO SER Threading Tool Holder 2525
An external threading holder for cutting metric, unified and pipe threads on a lathe, holding a triangular full-profile threading insert at the correct thread angle.

AKKO SIR Internal Grooving Tool Holder
A bar-style holder for cutting internal grooves and profiles inside bored holes, positioning a small blade-type insert precisely at the working diameter.

Torx Retaining Screw for Tool Holders
The clamping screw that locks the insert or top clamp into the tool holder pocket. Genuine replacements restore full clamping torque after wear.

Torx Key & AAL-03 3mm Allen Key
The dedicated drivers used to tighten and loosen AKKO retaining screws and clamp screws without rounding out the drive.

AAV Shim Screw & Bukse Screw
Secures the shim seat beneath the insert pocket, protecting the holder body from wear and maintaining consistent insert seating height.

Indexable Insert Shim
A hardened seat plate that sits under the insert to absorb impact and protect the tool holder pocket from cratering, extending holder life.

AKV Clamp Screw
The top-clamp fixing screw used on lever and clamp-style holders to hold the insert firmly in place under cutting load.

ATK Wedge Clamp
A wedge-style top clamp that locks the insert into the pocket via a cam/wedge action — a common wear part to replace when clamping force loosens.

ACK-05 Wedge Clamp
An alternative wedge-clamp profile used on select AKKO holder series for secure top-clamping of the insert.

AS-01 Ring, ABPL-01 Stamp & Small Hardware
Small precision components — retaining rings, position stamps and locating hardware — used to complete and adjust AKKO holder assemblies.
Understanding AKKO Tool Holder Codes
External Turning Tool Holders
ISO turning holders are named by an insert-shape and clearance-angle code: CNMG (80° diamond), DNMG (55° diamond), TNMG (60° triangle), VNMG (35° diamond) and WNMG (trigon). The first two letters describe insert shape and clearance, later letters describe tolerance, fixing method and chip-breaker. Diamond-shaped inserts (35°/55°/80°) trade strength for the ability to reach into corners and profiles, while triangle and trigon inserts offer more cutting edges and greater edge strength for roughing. Choosing the right holder code means matching insert shape to your part geometry — tight corners and copy-turning favour sharper diamond angles, while heavy stock removal favours triangle or trigon inserts.
Boring Bars & Internal Turning
Boring bars machine the inside diameter of a pre-drilled or cored hole — enlarging it, finishing it to size, or cutting internal features. Because the bar overhangs into the bore, rigidity and diameter selection matter more than on external tools: a bar that's too slender for its overhang will chatter and produce a poor finish. AKKO's SCLCR-style boring bars use 80° diamond CCMT inserts on solid steel shanks, available in a range of bar diameters and lengths to match different bore sizes and depths, giving a good balance of reach and stiffness for general internal turning work.
Grooving & Threading Tools
Grooving tools cut a recess into a diameter — for parting off a finished part, cutting an external or internal groove, or machining a relief groove next to a shoulder. Threading tools cut helical profiles (metric, unified or pipe threads) using a full-profile insert ground to the exact thread angle. Both operations depend on rigid tool positioning and the correct insert width or pitch for the job, since a mismatched insert will cut an incorrect groove width or thread form. AKKO's SER external threading holders and SIR internal grooving holders are built for stable, repeatable cuts on CNC and manual lathes.

How to Choose the Right AKKO Tool Holder
- Insert shape & holder codeMatch the insert shape (CNMG/DNMG/TNMG/VNMG/WNMG) to your part geometry — diamond shapes for contours and corners, triangle/trigon for roughing strength.
- Shank sizeChoose a shank that matches your turret or tool post clamping height (commonly 16x16, 20x20, 25x25 or 32x32mm) — undersized shanks reduce rigidity and finish quality.
- Right-hand vs left-handRight-hand (R) holders cut towards the chuck feeding right-to-left; left-hand (L) holders feed left-to-right — pick based on your machine's spindle rotation and tool approach direction.
- Boring bar diameterSelect the largest bar diameter that fits the bore, with the shortest overhang possible, to minimise chatter and get the best surface finish.
- Clamping styleWedge clamps and lever clamps grip the insert firmly for general turning; screw-on (top-clamp) styles allow quick insert changes — choose based on how often you index inserts and the rigidity needed for your cut depth.
- Approach angleA smaller approach angle (e.g. 45°) spreads cutting force for heavier roughing cuts; a 93° approach lets you turn right up to a square shoulder.
