Amana 46474 Tapered Ball Tip Carving Spiral
3-flute tapered ball tip with ZrN coating — the gold-tone coating reduces friction on softwoods and reinforces fine 3D detail in carving toolpaths.
Amana 48302-K Spektra™ Compression Spiral
Compact 3mm compression spiral for fine inlay work, small-radius cabinet parts and intricate panel cuts — full Spektra™ coating for laminate and veneer applications.
Spektra™ Coated Spirals — Extreme Tool Life
Spektra™ is Amana Tool's flagship nACo (nano-composite) coating — a multi-layer ceramic-aluminum oxide deposition that hardens the cutting edges to roughly 4,500 HV (about 3× harder than uncoated carbide) and slashes the friction coefficient. The result on the production floor is dramatically extended tool life on melamine, MDF, hardwood, plywood and engineered laminates — CNC operators consistently report 2–4× the part-count of an uncoated equivalent before re-tooling. The coating also reduces heat transfer back into the cutter, which keeps spindle bearings happier on long programs.
Compression Spirals — Chip-Free Top & Bottom Faces
Compression spirals combine an up-cut zone at the tip with a down-cut zone above it, so the cut "compresses" the workpiece between them. This is the gold-standard geometry for two-faced laminated stock — melamine board, veneered ply, double-sided MDF and pre-finished panels — because the down-cut shoulder shears the top face cleanly while the up-cut tip lifts the bottom edge. SAN Tools stocks Amana Tool compression spirals in 3mm, 6mm, 10mm and 12mm diameters, all with full Spektra™ coating for production cabinetry runs.
Spoilboard Surfacers, V-Grooves & Specialty Geometry
Beyond spirals, Amana Tool's insert-style cutters deliver fast, repeatable performance for the rest of the CNC workflow: insert spoilboard surfacers (RC-2253, RC-2256) flatten beds in a single pass with replaceable carbide inserts — no resharpening downtime; insert V-grooves (RC-1148-M, RC-45711-M) hold consistent angle geometry for sign making and folding work; foam-cutting end mills (48442-K, 48444-K) use slick rake angles to prevent fusion in EPS and EPP; and tapered ball-tip carving bits (46470–46479 series) deliver crisp 3D detail with ZrN coating tuned for softwood. Specialty engraving bits and folding V-bits round out the range for signmakers and fabricators.
Made in USA — Premium Micrograin Carbide
Amana Tool has manufactured router bits in New York, USA since 1973. Every solid-carbide bit is ground from premium micrograin carbide, precision-balanced for high-RPM CNC spindles, and inspected for runout before it leaves the factory. Industrial coatings (Spektra™ nACo, AlTiN, ZrN) are applied in Amana's USA facility — not outsourced — for consistent edge sharpness and tool life across the catalogue.

Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about Amana Tool CNC router bits and ordering from SAN Tools.
Are these genuine Amana Tool USA bits?
Yes. SAN Tools is an authorised distributor of Amana Tool router bits in the UAE. Every bit ships in original Amana Tool packaging with the part number, batch markings and full manufacturer warranty. We do not stock counterfeit or re-branded carbide.
What is Spektra™ coating, and what are its benefits?
Spektra™ is Amana Tool's nACo (nano-composite) ceramic-aluminum oxide coating, applied in Amana's USA facility. It hardens the cutting edge to roughly 4,500 HV (about 3× harder than uncoated carbide), reduces friction, and dramatically extends tool life on abrasive materials like melamine, MDF, hardwood and laminates. Most CNC operators see 2–4× the part-count of an uncoated equivalent.
What's the difference between up-cut, down-cut and compression spirals?
Up-cut spirals lift chips upward — great for chip evacuation but tend to fray the top edge. Down-cut spirals push chips down — clean top edge, but chips can pack the kerf. Compression spirals combine both: down-cut zone at the top and up-cut zone at the bottom, "compressing" the workpiece between them. For two-faced laminated stock (melamine, veneer) compression is the only geometry that gives clean edges on BOTH faces.
What's the difference between O-flute and standard up-cut spirals?
O-flute single-flute geometries have an extra-large open chip room (the "O" shape), which evacuates gummy chips before they can weld back to the cutter. This makes O-flutes the right choice for aluminum and most plastics — they cut clean, melt-free edges at high feed rates without chip welding. Standard up-cut spirals tend to clog or burn on these materials.
Can I use Amana router bits on a hobby-grade CNC like a Shapeoko or X-Carve?
Yes — we stock 6mm-shank and 1/4"-shank Amana Tool bits that fit most hobby and pro-sumer CNC routers. The 6mm-shank Spektra™ spirals (48118-K, 48218-K, 48430-K) and the smaller compression spirals (48302-K) are popular with hobby CNC users in the UAE who want production-grade cut quality.
What feeds and speeds should I run?
Amana Tool publishes feed/speed charts for every bit on its website (amanatool.com). As a starting point: Spektra™ spirals in MDF/melamine run roughly 18,000–24,000 RPM at 60–120 inches/min for 6mm bits. Always start conservative on a test panel and adjust based on cut quality, chip color and spindle load. WhatsApp us your machine and material and we can recommend a starting recipe.
Are Amana Tool bits resharpenable?
Solid-carbide spirals can be resharpened by an accredited tooling lab, though most CNC shops find it more cost-effective to replace once cut quality drops. Insert-style cutters (RC-2256 spoilboard surfacer, RC-1148-M V-groove, RC-45711-M In-Tech V-groove) use replaceable carbide inserts — you swap the inserts in seconds, no resharpening required.
Can you supply Amana Tool products not listed on this page?
Absolutely. The page lists our most popular in-stock items, but we can source the full Amana Tool catalogue — CNC kits, hand-router bits, dado sets, raised-panel cutters, planer knives and more. Send us the part number on WhatsApp and we'll come back with availability, lead time and pricing.
What is the typical lead time?
Items shown above are usually in stock for same-day pickup at our Dubai branch and next-day delivery across the UAE. Special-order Amana Tool items typically arrive within 2–4 weeks from Amana Tool USA or our regional distribution centre.
Do you offer volume pricing for cabinet shops and CNC manufacturers?
Yes. We offer dedicated distributor pricing for cabinet shops, sign makers, CNC job shops, custom millwork firms and OEMs. Send us your typical monthly usage or a BOM and we'll come back with a tiered pricing offer and account terms.
What's the difference between Spektra™, AlTiN and ZrN coatings?
Spektra™ (nACo) is for general wood, MDF, melamine and laminate — it's Amana's broadest-application coating. AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) is rated for steel and stainless and tolerates the higher cutting temperatures of metal work. ZrN (zirconium nitride) is a low-friction gold-tone coating used on tapered ball-tip 2D/3D carving bits (the 46470–46479 series) for fine detail in softwood.
How do I avoid chip-out / tear-out on my CNC cuts?
For two-faced material (melamine, veneer) use a compression spiral — that's the single biggest improvement most shops can make. For single-face material, use a down-cut spiral on the top face and an up-cut on the bottom. Keep your bits sharp (Spektra™-coated bits stay sharp longer), use the right RPM/feed for the material, and make sure your spoilboard is flat — warped beds cause uneven cut depth and chip-out at the perimeter.
